The main objective of this academic study is to identify the competencies that teachers should develop in order to adapt to the use of ICT. The specific objectives are to describe and characterize the digital competencies needed for teaching statistics. The methodological approach of this study is qualitative and descriptive in scope. A systematic review of the information was carried out, following some stages proposed by the PRISMA statement. In addition, a triangulation of the information was carried out to increase the reliability of the bibliographic sources used in the conceptualization. In reference to the most relevant findings of this work is that having given an excessive emphasis on digital competencies has led to a research neglect of emotional competencies, which can have negative consequences on teaching practice and on both personal and professional well-being in the educational community. Likewise, another finding was that the competency model proposed by UNESCO seeks to address the needs of teachers considering a variety of contexts, while the European Commission's model focuses on the more specific needs of the countries that are members of the European Union. In addition, one of the most relevant conclusions was that the effective integration of ICT in the statistics teaching process requires a holistic approach, addressing both the technical skills and the pedagogical and emotional competencies of teachers.
Lizbeth Gisselle Ponce Tituaña, Fabiola Irene Tituaña Suárez, Roberto Wladimir Páez Herrera, Noralma Magdalena Quelal González, Myriam del Pilar Tupiza Cumbal, Henry Alejandro Verduga Shiguango Copyright (c) 2024 Lizbeth Gisselle Ponce Tituaña, Fabiola Irene Tituaña Suárez, Roberto Wladimir Páez Herrera, Noralma Magdalena Quelal González, Myriam del Pilar Tupiza Cumbal, Henry Alejandro Verduga Shiguango https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/951 Fri, 20 Dec 2024 03:26:01 +0000 Tecnoestrés en usuarios universitarios: caso de estudio https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/961
The present study addresses the phenomenon of technostress among university users, examining its impact on faculty, students, and administrative staff. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have revolutionized the educational environment, offering significant improvements, but also psychological challenges such as technostress. Technostress is defined as the psychological strain derived from the interaction with digital technologies, affecting various cognitive, emotional, and physical aspects of individuals. This study focuses on assessing levels of technostress in a university setting, identifying its dimensions and triggering factors.

The study adopted a non-experimental cross-sectional design, employing a descriptive and correlational method. A validated 16-item questionnaire was used to measure technostress, administered to a representative sample of 51 individuals including faculty, students, and administrative staff from a university. Results revealed that 66% of participants experienced low levels of technostress, while 4% showed high levels. Dimensions analyzed included skepticism, fatigue, anxiety, and inefficacy, with varying prevalences observed for each dimension. Statistical analysis confirmed good reliability of the questionnaire used.

This study highlights the relevance of technostress in the university context, impacting the well-being and academic/work performance of individuals. Gender and age differences also influence the perception and manifestation of technostress, highlighting the need for specific strategies to mitigate its negative effects. Implementing mental health programs and promoting conscious use of ICTs are recommended to enhance the balance between academic and personal life.

Keywords: Technostress, higher education, ICT, well-being.
Mario Paguay-García, Eduardo Valarezo, Edmundo Cabezas-Heredia Copyright (c) 2024 Mario Paguay-García, Eduardo Valarezo, Edmundo Cabezas-Heredia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/961 Fri, 20 Dec 2024 03:35:46 +0000 La importación de vehículos: un beneficio desconocido para las personas con discapacidad https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/955
This study reviews the vehicle importation process for handicapped people in Ecuador. Besides, We analyze those challenges presented to this commercial effort itself. As a brief history on this subject, it can be said that during the final years of the XIX century, the first institutions were created and most importantly, social movements claiming justice, human rights and equality in general for the handicapped showed up. Two important road marks came in the XX Century: By the middle of the XX Century and in charitable form, some other institutions were created, but the absence of resources and adequate conditions, made this effort just a gesture, rather than a practical law. By the 1970’s “La Federación Nacional de Organizaciones para personas con Discapacidad” (FENASEP) started functioning; however, it always was very limited. Internationally, and in parallel, the “American with Disabilities Act” (ADA) sets an example by 1990. ADA shows the “how to do it” and it is followed worldwide. ADA stablished a point of inflection where opportunity and rightness are the key words holding the legal debate. In Ecuador and in 1992 the Law on “Discapacidades” is emitted and it sets the legal base for the creation of the “Consejo Nacional de Discapacidades (CONADIS). It is only until 2012 when a Law is elaborated in the Parlament, which embraces the laboral, social, educative and economical inclusions for people with any type of limitation. Based on this legal acquisition, a program to import motor vehicles, with modifications tailored to each disable case and supported, for first time, by the Ecuadorian Government took effect. Its goal, to facilitate a better and easier and quicker social integration for the disabled. This study investigate the challenges and ignorance about this benefit that handicapped people face within this process. In that respect, a second objective of this study is to advance somewhat, towards a more inclusive society, where disable people become fully aware of the legal rights embracing them. We will try to frame this study as a qualitative measure on the life of those who benefited from this program so far. Given these extensive goals, it has been stablished that the opinion of theoretical experts, involved in the elaboration of this law, as well as, the beneficiaries will be our data bank. In conclusion. Importing vehicles for people with impediments is in need of strategies that will facilitate their social, economical, political, and cultural integrations. Each case, differs from the next and from the one before.
Yolanda Bejarano, Esteban Garrido Copyright (c) 2024 YOLANDA BEJARANO https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/955 Fri, 20 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Digital marketing and its contribution to commercialization case: Poultry Aviburz https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/947
It is relevant to analyze the data from scientific journals since positioning in digital fields is increasingly gaining strength, even more so when it comes to the visualization of scientific research articles, for these new technologies and tools are of great help. Data from the 52 REGME network stations were used, obtained from the Geodetic Reference System for the Americas (SIRGAS) portal. Following an initial analysis of data duration, 16 viable stations for the study were identified, discarding the rest due to insufficient or anomalous data. These selected data were refined to remove outliers and fill in missing values. Subsequently, a linear decomposition analysis was applied to the time series to calculate trends, seasonalities, and particularly, noise, using Fourier transforms. It was concluded that none of the stations exhibited white noise, with pink or flicker noise being common in most, typical of continuous monitoring stations. However, some stations, such as GZEC, and SIEC, exhibited a type of red noise or random walk, with spectral indices close to -2, attributed to monument stability or the type of soil where the stations are embedded.
Gustavo Roberto León Lara, Marco Patricio Luna Ludeña Copyright (c) 2024 Gustavo Roberto León Lara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/956 Fri, 20 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Análisis descriptivo de inmuebles aledaños a la Primera Línea de Metro de Quito: un estudio para 5 estaciones https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/915
The Quito Metro First Line (abbreviation in Spanish, PLMQ) is a megaproject that also marks a milestone in the urban development of the city and with it the related infrastructure that in turn generates improvements in the added value of the surrounding properties. In this context, through an academic study, it is intended to answer the following research question: what is the baseline for the measurement of the capital gain of commercial and residential real estate, adjacent to the 5 stops (Jipijapa, La Pradera, La Carolina, La Magdalena, Solanda) of Quito Metro First Line (PLMQ)? To answer the question, the study has been planned, through the observation technique, in 2 phases: the first focused on the generation of a baseline with economic, commercial, technological and demographic indicators that allow to have initial data at the December 20, 2022, regarding the rental and sale prices of commercial and residential real estate, up to 500 meters around the 5 stops described above. The second phase, for its part, has included the observation of properties of the same type through web platforms, of commercial promotion of properties in the city of Quito, highlighting that of Plusvalía.com. In total, 198 observation sheets were generated, corresponding to properties for sale and rent. 132 records were collected on site and 66 through web platforms (in total there were 68 observation records through web pages; however, 2 had inconsistencies and were not considered).

Santiago Nuñez Naranjo, Johanna Elizabeth Morocho Terán, Luis Enrique Ortega Pintado Copyright (c) 2024 Santiago Nuñez Naranjo, Johanna Elizabeth Morocho Terán, Luis Enrique Ortega Pintado https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/915 Fri, 20 Dec 2024 15:29:06 +0000 Radiografía a la informalidad urbana en el centro histórico de la ciudad de Ibarra https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/975
The city of Ibarra, founded in the 17th century as a transit point between Quito (Ecuador) and Pasto (Colombia), has historically been distinguished by its strategic location. Originally a crossroads, it has been the setting for significant migratory flows and socioeconomic activities that have evolved within its territory. Over time, the city has developed complex social dynamics marked by interactions between local and external actors.

This study examines irregular mobility processes in Ibarra's historic center following the pandemic, with the aim of analyzing residents' perceptions and patterns of public space occupation. The research scenarios are based on two main analytical variables: the first encompasses irregularized mobility, while the second concerns the perception of urban informality. The research model is theoretically grounded in a mixed-methods approach (quantitative-spatial) and is supported by official data, public space georeferencing, and a citizen perception survey to understand how different social actors experience space in the face of urban informality phenomena. The results show that migratory flows have increased levels of public space degradation, urban insecurity, and social stigmatization. While issues of urban insecurity, stigmatization, and the creation of natural boundaries are not yet evident to the public, the perception of these phenomena has begun to generate significant impacts on the population, as well as on the segregation and stratification of social structure. This theoretical-spatial model leaves an open field for future researchers to identify new urban phenomena where public space serves as a positive element for social development.
Patricio Díaz Quintana, Morella Briceño Ávila Copyright (c) 2024 Patricio Díaz Quintana, Morella Briceño Ávila https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/975 Fri, 20 Dec 2024 04:27:49 +0000 ARDUINO como alternativa en la enseñanza de la Química Instrumental: Analizador espectroscópico ESPECTRUINO https://axioma.pucesi.edu.ec/index.php/axioma/article/view/944
The limited resources existing in Latin American Universities make it difficult to acquire and maintain equipment for chemical analysis in general.
