Abstract

In Ecuador abundant agricultura' waste is produced daily without any use of technology as in the case of sisal (fourcraea Andean), of which only 5% of its weight as fiber is usad and the rest is waste contaminant. Previous research has demonstrated the feasibility of preparing fine particle boards with this waste fiber, thus the purpose of evaluating the mechanical performance of this type of composite material, which is based en lignocellulosic residues, obtained through waste pulp, and thermosetting resins. The following variables were studied, dependent variables: tensile strength, permeability, and adhesion to surfaces; and one independent variable, additive type (re,sin). We used a completely randomized design with four treatments and three repetitions, and a Tukey test at 5% significance. After which, we conclude that the use of agricultural waste in the production of composite materials has shown that the sisal laminar pulp (fourcraea andina) with a urea-formaldehyde polymer rnatrix achieves boards with good mechanical properties. The best result was shown in treatment 4 (urea formaldehyde laminated resin), which also had a reduction Glose to 54% in the use of resin relativa to past research. The result indicates that this bio-polymer (pulp) together with the synthetic resin laminate, urea formaldehyde, is a valid alternative for industrial development in the field of recycling.
