Abstract

The study of Political Communication in Ecuador constitutes a novelty in itself, since there are very few academic, professional and research references that exist for this field, many times restricted to the party and electoral field, ignoring its comprehensive, broad and convergent. That is why it is necessary, on the one hand, to theoretically socialize Political Communication from an interdisciplinary perspective based on Communication Science, Political Science and Sociology; and, on the other, justify the object of study of a program as urgent as it is necessary. It is based on the hypothesis that there is a latent demand in certain social sectors regarding the need for access to a master's degree of these characteristics with a specific object of study, which is built through a bibliographic review. For this, and considering this basis, the objective is to support the object of study in a clear and systematic way, through a structuring guided by the guidelines established in the presentation of postgraduate program projects of the Council of Higher Education of Ecuador (CES) , with the adaptation to the main problems of reality and scientists. At the methodological level, various surveys have been applied based on a previously stipulated entry profile, with an analytical examination of five groups with open and closed questions that have been subsequently categorized. This work meets a large part of the usefulness criteria established in the field of research: social relevance, theoretical value and practical implications. The result supports the object of study and indicates - certainly - several guidelines to refine it and adapt it more faithfully to the socioeconomic and political reality of Ecuador.
