Abstract

This research showed the effects of the use of mobile devices on the performance and attitude of a group of high school students in the subject of mathematics under the mobile learning approach, "M-Learning". A quasi-experimental research design was applied in which two learning environments were compared; the participants were first-year high school students. They were intentionally assigned to either a control or experimental group. The control group was given traditional instruction, while the experimental group was taught the same lessons using mobile learning activity cards. These cards allowed for the integration of portable technology devices. The experimental group learned through self-regulation of concepts.

The results showed that students who were exposed to blended learning, including mobile learning as a complementary tool in the math learning process, achieved better results than students exposed to traditional face-to-face education. In addition, the results revealed through the inventory of mathematical attitudes the general satisfaction of the students with the subject, increasing their attitudinal skills, thus highlighting the sighting of new limits: learning with mobile devices.
